• your most memorable summers in sport start here

Last summer we used the exit from COVID to focus on kids being back outside for the sake of fun in the sand. We wanted to use beach volleyball as an avenue to help re-establish a healthier, more connected (computer-free!) community of youth, and social connection was a priority for us.

We wanted kids to feel like kids again.

This year, we’re re-committing to our goal of being the most competitive beach volleyball club in Canada.

We’re excited to introduce 3 streams of programming this summer that will meet your child wherever they are in their beach volleyball game.

Check out the descriptions, mark your calendars, and get ready for an amazing summer outside.

And, it’s an Olympic Year. We’re hyped.

Zephyr Tournament Team

Calling all beach is life athletes. This twice weekly, highly competitive stream is designed for players focused on success in the OVA tournament tour, and who are dedicated to beach volleyball as their primary sport this summer. The intent of the Zephyr Tournament Team is to ready athletes for Provincial Championships. Practices will be intensely focused on game-play skill and strategy, and on sharpening team chemistry in a way that optimizes the partnership’s strengths. Coaches of these courts have been competitive players themselves and understand what it takes to find success in the sand: this is the place to be for athletes ready to narrow their focus and to maximize their potential in tournament play.

  • Athletes must commit to 3 tournaments, with the intention to play Provincials. We’ll help you navigate tournament selection and scheduling.

    • Athletes must sign up with a partner.

    • Coach to Athlete Ratio will be 1:8

    • Throughout the summer, players will take part in some nights of Work-Up Court.

    📣 IMPORTANT 📣

Athletes putting their focus toward making Team-O or with busy indoor volleyball commitments this summer should not register for this program, as Team-O commitments will conflict with Zephyr Tournament Team practices. Athletes pursuing Team-O should register under the Zephyr Competitive program, where they can still experience highly focused practices, but have schedule flexibility for commitments outside of the Zephyr courts.

  • Program Length: 14 weeks beginning week of May 21st until Aug 22

Practice Nights: Tuesday and Thursday night 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Cost: $699.99 + tax per player

*tournmanet registration costs are in addition to this training program

Partner: Must register with a partner, as a team.

    Age Groups: 12U – 17U

When registration opens, you’ll need to access your Sportsengine account. You can find the how-to for this at the bottom of this page.

All sessions take place at the North London Athletic Fields, located on Adelaide Street near Kipps Lane.

Zephyr Competitive

Beach season is here! The Zephyr Competitive stream is the core of our beach club and caters to all players looking to up their game in the sand. These practices will be focused on fundamentals, working with a teammate, and on understanding strategy for competition in tournament play. Athletes will experience skills, drills, and game play situations to get better at all things beach. If you have some experience with volleyball (played on your school team? Club team? Plans to play a tourney or 2 this summer? Just love the game and want to hone your skills?) – this is the right place for you.

  • • Players will be assigned to a court with similarly skilled athletes.

    • Throughout the summer, players will take part in nights of Work-Up Court across all 14 courts.

Zephyr Intro to Beach

Curious about beach volleyball? Wanna give it a try? We’re really excited to help you! Zephyr’s Intro to Beach program is designed to introduce the game both to first timers and to athletes who have maybe played before but need a bit more time learning the basics. Athletes of all ages will learn and practice fundamentals - bump, set, spike - and will be taught about things like rules of the game, scoring, and playing with a partner. Having fun is a big priority here, and coaches will patiently help these athletes to feel more confident: both as players & as humans.

Additional Registration Information

Registration is now open and will close when our programs are at capacity.

Athletes are encouraged (but not required) to register with a partner.

If registering with a partner, please note each partner will need to individually register (except Tournament Team)

  • Athletes will receive a Zephyr Beach Club t-shirt with their registration

  • Registration is limited and will be filled first come first served.

Our registration system runs through a platform called SportsEngine:

    • The 1st step requires the registering person to sign-up for a Sportsengine account.

    • Prior to your first BVA program registration, your new account must be verified via an email sent to you from Sportsengine.

    • Parents can register more than one child from their account. All acknowledgements and receipts will be emailed to the registering parent.

    • Each registration will require entry of basic information for the BVA athlete, Parent(s)/Guardian(s), and possibly the athlete´s partner.

    • Registration(s) can be completed by paying online (credit card or PayPal), or by cash or cheque at your child’s first practice.

    • Confirmation and a receipt will be emailed to the person who initiated the registration

  • We’re so proud to have coaches that have played at some of the highest levels both locally and abroad, and more importantly, that are excellent humans and role models for the next generation of athletes. Many of our coaches spent their own childhood summers in the BVA themselves, and seeing them back in the sand each summer is an illustration of the positive impact this game can have on a person’s life.

Your child will have the influence of multiple coaches through the summer.

  • Our job is to meet your athlete where they are, and to provide an experience that supports their intent for the sport.

    Working toward an NCAA scholarship?

    Shifting from indoor to beach?

Nervous and brand new to the sport?

All of this is great - we’ve got you covered.

We spend the first few weeks of the summer gauging athlete skill levels and shifting players to appropriate courts. Our 14 court facility and low coach to player are key elements in our ability to do this.

  • All sessions take place at the North London Athletic Fields, located on Adelaide Street near Kipps Lane.

  • Follow us here on Instagram. This is a quick way for us to communicate about things like inclement weather, and a great spot to find photos and event updates throughout the summer.
